Golden Sheet

Author's Notes: I don't really like writing drabbles with no dialogue, but it wouldn't work for this one. It's a little angsty.

He dropped to his knees under the large tree and shuffled through the thick leaves, faster and faster, until he was tossing aside the colored foliage like a suddenly shredded blanket.

Eventually he reached the grassy hollow between two large roots, the sheltered spot where he and Lancelot had first coupled. He curled up in the natural nest, hiding his face against his arm, the rich smell of the earth mingling with the memory of Lancelot's scent.

For hours he lay there, his body shaking with grief. When he finally stirred, he was lightly covered by a sheet of gold.
